Dragon-Star project is funded by FP7, aiming to support the Chinese participation in Horizon 2020, the reciprocity originating from the signed EU-China Scientific Cooperation Agreement, the bilateral cooperation in scientific, technological and industrial research and innovation fields, and the ongoing EU - China Innovation Cooperation Dialogue.

Dragon-STAR Innovation Award


Successful and innovative research and Chinese-European business cooperation are invited to apply for the Dragon-Star Innovation Award. The Award aims at delivering visibility to shining examples of Chinese-European successful collaboration cases in order to motivate and stimulate future Chinese-European cooperation. The winner will be awarded with the “Dragon-Star Innovation Award” at the China-EU S&T Cooperation Forum to be organised in Brussels in 2015.

UK – BBSRC-China Partnering Awards

This scheme aims to set up partnerships between UK and overseas laboratories, to promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists and to promote access to facilities in the field of biosciences. The application deadline is 27 November 2013.

Israel – NSFC-ISF Joint Academic Research Programme

The aim of the programme is to encourage and support research cooperation between Israeli and Chinese scientists. The programme is funded by the Chinese and Israeli governments through the two foundations: the National Science Foundation Committee (NSFC) and the Israel Science Foundation (ISF). The grant budget will be equivalent to up to USD 100,000 per year, for three years, for each of the principle investigators (Chinese and Israeli). Fields of cooperation include various subjects under life science and medicine disciplines. The deadline for submission of proposals for the 2013/2014 round is 4 November 2013.

The Netherlands - Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences: Visiting Professors Program (VPP)

The Visiting Professors Programme enables outstanding foreign researchers to spend time working in the Netherlands. The programme acts as an incentive for Dutch science and scholarship. The Academy funds a research budget and covers the Visiting Professor’s travel and accommodation expenses. The Dutch University acts as the host organisation. The deadline for submission is 1 November 2013.

Slovakia – Scholarships for university students, PhD. Students, university teachers, researchers and artists from abroad

This programme supports study/research/teaching/artistic mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists at universities and research organisations in Slovakia. The deadline for application is 31 October 2013 for a start of the stay in Slovakia on 1 February at the earliest.

Getting Involved
    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.
