SFC / RGC Joint Research Scheme

   
   

The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong Joint Research Scheme (JRS) aims to promote and support collaboration between scientists and engineers in the Scottish Life Sciences Association (SULSA) and the Scottish Energy Technology Partnership (ETP) and the University Grants Committee (UGC)-funded institutions in Hong Kong. Proposals in the fields of Life Sciences and Energy will be invited under the Scheme.

Fellowship for Young International Scientists
   
   

The aim of the Fellowship is to promote academic exchange and cooperation between CAS institutes and international research institutions and universities, and the development of talented scientists, by attracting young international scientists to conduct a period of cooperative research at CAS institutes. The application period is from 1 September to 15 September 2014.

Food Waste Recycling Projects in Housing Estates
   
   

The objective of the Projects is to facilitate housing estates to set up on-site composters to treat food waste collected from households. The Projects also aim to provide funding support for hiring personnel and purchasing equipment, such as containers, necessary for the collection of food waste, as well as organising educational programmes for encouraging participation from residents and raising residents’ awareness towards food waste recovery. Applications will be accepted starting from 4 July 2011. There is no deadline for application.

Getting Involved
   
    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.    
   
SFC / RGC Joint Research Scheme
   
   

1. Parallel application submissions by the Hong Kong and Scottish applicants are required.
2. The Hong Kong and Scottish applicants should jointly prepare a proposal following SFC's format in English which should be submitted to the RGC and the SFC in parallel.
3. Scottish applicants should submit the joint proposals on behalf of the joint project team via the on-line system of the SULSA at sulsa.fluidreview.com.
4. Hong Kong applicants should submit the same proposal together with the Application Supplement, http://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/doc/rgc/form/sfc_rgc1.doc, to the RGC. The RGC will not accept proposals without the Application Supplement.

Fellowship for Young International Scientists
   
   

There are two application routes for the Fellowships. Applications may be submitted by a CAS host institute or by a designated international partner institution of the CAS.

1. Applications from host institutions: a host institute may submit applications, taking into account its needs and capacity and the level of its cooperation and communication with a given candidate.
2. Applications from foreign partner institutions: CAS will invite key international partner institutions to nominate potential visitors.

Applications from CAS institutes and international partner institutions are to be submitted to the Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS, during two specific periods each year: 1) March 1-15; 2) September 1-15.
