NSFC-RS International Exchanges Scheme--Cost-Share Programme

   
   

According to MOU of National Science Fund Committee (NSFC) and Royal Society (RS), this scheme is for scientists in the UK and China who want to stimulate new collaborations with leading scientists overseas through either a one-off visit or bilateral travel. NSFC will provide at most 100,000 RMB per project in at most two years, including cost of living for UK researchers in the China and Chinese researchers travelling to UK. RS will provide 6,000 GBP annually, including cost of living for Chinese researchers in the UK and UK researchers travelling to China. The programme will last from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017. Applications should be submitted before October 21, 2014.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme
   
   

Established in 2009 by the Research Grants Council (RGC), the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD programmes in Hong Kong's institutions. Those who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in Hong Kong institutions funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC), irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$240,000 (approximately US$30,000) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years. More than 230 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2015/16 academic year.

Small Entrepreneur Research Assistance Programme (SERAP)
   
   

This call has been recently published by Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF), Hong Kong. SERAP is a technology entrepreneurship programme. It provides pre-venture capital stage financing to support technology entrepreneurs and small enterprises in carrying out R&D for starting new business and conducting market validation. Applications can be submitted throughout the year.

    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme
   
   

Eligible candidates should first make an Initial Application online through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES) to obtain a HKPFS Reference Number by 1 December 2014 at Hong Kong Time 12:00:00 before submitting applications for PhD admission to their desired institutions.

Applicants may choose up to two programmes / departments at one or two institutions for PhD study under HKPFS 2015/16. They should comply with the admission requirements of their selected institutions and programmes.

At this webpage, the applicant is ought to register the organization and then his/her relevant personnel with the Innovation and Technology Commission Funding Administrative System. The registered personnel will be responsible for submitting the project application through this system. Applications can be submitted throughout the year.
