ESRC-NSFC call for Collaborative Research Urban Transformations in China


The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) invite collaborative projects between the UK and China that address urban transformations in China and which contribute to the economic development and welfare of China.

Belmont Forum

The Belmont Forum is a group of the world’s major and emerging funders of global environmental change research and international science councils. This call aims at fostering research on climate, environmental and related societal change in mountain regions, considering both new measurements, recovery of existing data, and the development and use of integrated modelling strategies by adopting a strong trans- and inter-disciplinary approach.

CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative(PIFI), Category D: CAS-TWAS PIFI for International PhD Students

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) offers a package of international fellowships, collectively called the “CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI)”, to support highly-qualified international scientists and postgraduate students to work and study at CAS institutions and strengthen their scientific collaboration with CAS researchers. The PIFI program is available for four categories of international researchers and students: distinguished scientists, visiting scientists, postdoctoral researchers and international PhD students.

NSFC - CNRS Joint Research Projects Program

IAccording the bilateral cooperation agreement between National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the bilateral agreement with China is open to all areas.

Getting Involved
    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.    
ESRC-NSFC call for Collaborative Research Urban Transformations in China

1. Both applications should feature an identical case for support written in English.
2. The UK application should be submitted through the UK Research Councils grant submission system which is known as ‘Je-S’
3. Chinese applications must log in here and fill the online application form.
