Dragon-Star Plus will provide the EC and the Member States with tools for setting a long term cooperation strategy with China in research and innovation. The proposed activities take into account the current on-going policy dialogue and the peculiarities of the research and innovation environment in China, and are based upon the outputs and the established mechanism of the previous DRAGON-STAR project.

NSFC-FWO Joint Research Programme

   
   

On the 30th of June, 2015 the official signing of the new cooperation agreement between the FWO and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) took place in Brussels. After a first successful call in 2016, a second call for collaborative projects is launched in order to further promote scientific cooperation between Flanders and China. For the 2017 call the cooperation is limited to all fields of natural sciences and medical sciences in the following themes: mathematical & physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences, earth sciences, engineering & material sciences, information sciences, management sciences and health sciences.

Environmental Education and Community Action (EE&CA) Projects refer to educational programmes or activities which aim to enhance community awareness and knowledge of environmental issue and mobilize individuals to take direct and positive action to improve and conserve the environment and induce behavioural change towards a green lifestyle.

Health Care and Promotion Scheme
   
   

The Health Care and Promotion Scheme (HCPS) provides funding support to evidence-based health promotion projects that help people adopt healthier lifestyles by enhancing awareness, changing adverse health behaviours or creating a conducive environment that supports good health practices. The HCPS invites innovative proposals addressing specific areas of health promotion listed in the thematic priorities which should contain a set of coordinated programmes leading to promotion of good health and prevention of illness in the community.

Getting Involved
   
    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.

1. The Chinese applicants need to log on here to fill the application form online.
2. All the members of the Chinese research team (including the Chinese PI) have to be already involved in an ongoing NSFC project and there should be an overlap of at least one year.

2. Applicants should read the Standard Conditions of Research Grant in the Guidance Notes for Research Grant Application before submitting research grant applications.
3. The Principal Applicant (PA) and the Institution are required to sign an Agreement covering the terms and conditions of the research project.

International cooperation in science and technology can increase China’s global influence

   
   

China will continue to be open and active in its technological cooperation on the world stage, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology. In June, Beijing will host the Eighth Clean Energy Ministerial, followed by the Fifth BRICS Science and Innovation Ministerial in July. In addition, dialogue on innovation and technology will be held with Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Israel and other countries this year to facilitate practical cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the international cooperation in science and technology can increase China’s global influence, promote breakthroughs in scientific and industrial bottlenecks, and create a friendly environment to facilitate economic reform.
