Dragon-Star Plus will provide the EC and the Member States with tools for setting a long term cooperation strategy with China in research and innovation. The proposed activities take into account the current on-going policy dialogue and the peculiarities of the research and innovation environment in China, and are based upon the outputs and the established mechanism of the previous DRAGON-STAR project.

Innovation and Technology Support Programme (ITSP)

   
   

ITSP supports midstream/downstream research and development (R&D) projects undertaken mainly by universities, R&D Centres, industry support organisations, professional bodies and trade and industry associations. ITSP invites applications for funding every six months or so. The Government adopts a three-tier funding framework for ITSP under the ITF. Tier 2 involves the funding of applied R&D projects which are industry-oriented and have potential for commercialisation. Tier 3 involves the funding of exploratory and forward-looking projects. The second round of funding applications for 2017 under Tier 2 and Tier 3 of the Innovation and Technology Support Programme (ITSP) is now open to application.

The deadline for application is September 29th, 2017

General Support Programme (GSP)
   
   

GSP is a programme under the ITF catering for non-R&D projects that contribute to the upgrading and development of our industries as well as fostering an innovation and technology culture in Hong Kong.

Food Waste Recycling Projects in Housing Estates
   
   

The objective of the Projects is to facilitate housing estates to set up on-site composters to treat food waste collected from households. The Projects also aim to provide funding support for hiring personnel and purchasing equipment, such as containers, necessary for the collection of food waste, as well as organising educational programmes for encouraging participation from residents and raising residents’ awareness towards food waste recovery.

Getting Involved
   
    Generally speaking, the applicant will be required to fill in a standard application form designated by the national agency managing the programme, and submit it with the required documents to the secretariat of the national agency or a host organization of the funding programme.

Applications of Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects must be submitted to the ITF Secretariat3 either:
1. through the Innovation and Technology Commission Funding Administrative System II; or
2. in hard copy in triplicate (one original plus two duplicate copies) in person or by post. Please also kindly provide a soft copy (preferably in MS Word 2010 or above), together with an application datasheet (available with the application forms). For more information, please refer to here.

DRAGON-STAR Plus ´Climate Change Expert Workshop´ Report published

   
   

On May 15th 2017, about thirty experts and policy makers in climate change research from Europe and China met in the Zijingang campus of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou for the ´Climate Change Expert Workshop´ which was organised by the DRAGON-STAR Plus project. The event was focusing on foresight scenarios, in order to develop a shared understanding on common short-term EU-China challenges as well as to make long term recommendations on future EU-China Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) cooperation in climate change.
