Dragon-Star Plus will provide the EC and the Member States with tools for setting a long term cooperation strategy with China in research and innovation. The proposed activities take into account the current on-going policy dialogue and the peculiarities of the research and innovation environment in China, and are based upon the outputs and the established mechanism of the previous DRAGON-STAR project.

According to a memorandum of cooperation between National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), both side will fund the cooperation programme of China Portugal Marine Technology. The key areas are Deep Sea and Oceans Systems; Estuarine, Littoral and Coastal Systems; Marine Biotechnology, Fishes and Aquaculture;Energy and Marine Technologies.

The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has published the first call for proposals under the EU-China Co-Funding Mechanism (CFM) for Research and Innovation, paving the way for deepened cooperation between European and Chinese research and innovation stakeholders. This first call launched on 16 December will enable China-based entities that are part of successful proposals under the Horizon 2020 2014/15 work programme and submitted proposals to the Horizon 2020 2016 work programme to apply for co-funding from MOST.

According to a memorandum of cooperation between National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and DFG, both sides will jointly fund research projects and support of the both countries to conduct substantive innovative research and cooperation. Therefore this call is targeted at proposals in the field of the development and optimisation of novel functional materials for catalysis, energy storage and energy technologies. These materials should permit environmentally benign reactions, which comprise effective chemical transformations, while using a minimum of resources and producing a minimum of pollutants.
The call aims to attract joint proposals, which for instance focus on:
- the synthesis of new materials,
- the structural and physicochemical characterisation of new materials,
- approaches toward novel applications in the above mentioned field,
- or other innovative methods.
The deadline for application is March 31st, 2016

1. Sino-foreign cooperation should sign an agreement or letter of intent of cooperation documents. The participation in collaborative R & D from both sides should clarify the contributions and division of labor.
2. The cooperation agreement must include specific provisions intellectual property rights. Otherwise, the two Parties shall sign a special intellectual property agreements.
