A main challenge of the current EU ‘skills gap’ is ensuring that vocational training programmes equip learners with the wide range of skills needed to become ready for work. By combining traditional vocational training with real commercial experience (i.e. the production and marketing of goods/services to a paying client), work-based learning (WBL) is becoming increasingly recognised as a powerful tool for developing key employability skills and tackling social exclusion.
The Experience for Training project aims to support those working with NEET young people and adult jobseekers in work-based learning environments by:
Finding a common model that works across range of contexts
Understanding the key skills of trainers and coaches in WBL
Understanding how to maximise the benefits for learners
